Poverty and Caste Study 2001
This was an exploratory study, examined the implications on the poverty situation of households and communities belonging to low caste identities,through the case studies of ‘to what extent does caste contribute to poverty?’ in two selected low caste communities from rural and urban locations.
- Output/s - Study analyzed the caste contribution to poverty and provides a qualitative perspective on the poverty situation of low caste communities in terms of the income levels, employment opportunities, educational attainments, social interactions and perceptions of the current status of caste consciousness amongst high and low castes.
