Producing eco-friendly bags as a means of enriching life

This project was implemented in Pallama and Arachchikattuwa DS Divisions in the Puttalam District targetting 100 women in poor families. The initiative was to manufacture eco friendly bags to replace polythene bags.

The main challenge was the high price of the eco friendly bags when compared to that of the polythene. Lack of cooperation of the youth who are more interested in quick money making methods was also problematic. However, the eco friendly bags were a good substitute for the polythene bags as they are degradable and thus can create a positive impact on nature.
