It is with profound sadness that we note the passing of Dr. Malathi De Alwis, formidable anthropologist and CEPA friend. She leaves behind an exceptional legacy, her profound work and understanding on memory, nationalism, humanitarianism and feminism in Sri Lanka will continue to be vital to our society.
Her last engagement with CEPA was in August 2020, where she presented at our inter-generational dialogue series on ‘Memorialisation and Community’.
She will be remembered as an exemplary scholar and a great inspiration to us all. Rest in peace!
