Description

Data on Livelihoods, Basic Services, Social Protection, generated for  the Secure Livelihoods Research Consortium (SLRC)

The Centre for Poverty Analysis was a core member of the Secure Livelihoods Research Consortium (SLRC) for eight-long years in researching livelihoods and services affected by conflict eight countries in Asia (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka) and Africa (Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda. SLRC’s Sri Lankan research programme looked primarily at processes of post-conflict resettlement, exploring how resettled populations were accessing basic services, livelihoods and social protection in a post-war context. More specifically, the research programme focused on the impacts of the actions of state, non-state, and private sector actors on small-scale fisher households in the North and East of Sri Lanka during the post-conflict rehabilitation phase as fishing was an important livelihood activity in the coastal North and East, and believed to have the potential to contribute quite significantly to the growth of the national economy.
